The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE) and the College of Engineering at The University of Alabama (UA) invite applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor within the department. The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE: The University of Alabama) and the College of Engineering (CoE) invite applications for multiple tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at all ranks, including Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels, within the ChBE department. This posting is specific for candidates applying for a position at the rank of Full Professor. Applications from candidates with appropriate experience and a strong record of scholarly productivity and impact who would seek appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor should apply through related postings advertised at those other position/rank levels. Candidates with prestigious achievements in their field and exceptional national and international reputations will be eligible for consideration for significant endowment support through appointment as an Endowed Shelby Distinguished Professor. These Endowed Shelby Distinguished Professors are one of the most prestigious honors bestowed upon faculty at The University of Alabama. To further broaden capabilities of the department, candidates with particular research emphasis and interests in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, and biomanufacturing are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with demonstrated focus on process optimization, supply chain, safety, and life cycle assessment are also sought. The College and University benefit from many major research centers and institutes (e.g., the Alabama Water Institute; the Alabama Mobility and Power Center; Alabama Materials Institute; UA Polymers and Soft Materials Research Center). Candidates with research emphasis in related fields including water modeling and technologies, materials for extreme environments, batteries and energy storage, and computational and experimental materials science are encouraged to apply. The ChBE department offers a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering, a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, and a new M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering. The undergraduate program is large and includes a diverse student body with substantial National Merit involvement. Graduates are highly recruited by industry and academia. The Department and College view teaching, research, and service as essential. Candidates must demonstrate potential to develop, lead, and fund a productive research program with scholarly impact in a focus area with long-term potential, and to collaborate with existing faculty. Minimum Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. Demonstrated record of prior research, impactful scholarly publications, and interest/record in chemical engineering and/or bioengineering education and professional service. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Potential to construct and sustain a quality research program. Potential for excellent teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants must meet all university criteria for appointment to the rank of Full Professor.
Preferred Qualifications
Have 10+ years of experience as a tenure-track/tenured faculty member at a leading peer R1 institution. Demonstrated record of high-quality research and scholarly publications recognized nationally and/or internationally. Significant record of scholarship in an engineering department with undergraduate and graduate programs. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
