Overview

Postdoctoral Research Fellow- Data & Tech (Rothenberg) – Computational Studies in Allergy and Immunology. A Bioinformatics Research Fellow position is available immediately in the Rothenberg Lab, which focuses on elucidating mechanisms of allergic responses, especially in Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The lab uses NGS data (whole exome analysis, genome-wide association studies, RNA sequencing including single-cell and whole tissue, and associated metadata) and bioinformatics strategies to study the genetic basis of allergic responses. A high degree of collaborative research to establish causal mechanisms is in place. Responsibilities

Perform analysis and experiments: design, execute, and record analyses and experiments; apply standard scientific protocols; develop, implement, and evaluate human subject and vertebrate animal research protocols; prepare, clean, and analyze data; maintain protocol accuracy with regular quality and reproducibility checks. Communicate results/findings: draft, write, and edit scientific reports, papers, articles, and abstracts; present research and department work at meetings, journal clubs, and seminars; discuss insights with Faculty and provide recommendations and analyses. Innovate and advance departmental capabilities: reproduce, evaluate, and improve techniques; adapt new methods to procedures; maintain detailed records; develop, set up, and verify new procedures; standardize procedures and evaluate innovative techniques; design new protocols; maintain active involvement in meetings, presentations, and publications; troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with department software/equipment. Financial/Budgeting: assist in preparing grant applications; assist in preparing and maintaining fiscal budgets; monitor expenditures and prepare capital expenditure requests; process check requests and track funding; resolve discrepancies. Staff Leadership: may provide day-to-day leadership for a team or supervise a minimal number of support staff; set team goals; contribute to employee performance reviews and oversee work assignments; serve as a functional expert and guide the team. Education and Training: may serve as course master and develop new courses; assist in training of new employees; mentor coworkers; support department training and identify training needs. Qualifications

Ph.D. in related discipline, MD, or equivalent degree PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or other quantitative disciplines Experience in a related discipline Preferred Skills

Genomics experience with next-generation sequencing data and GWAS Strong understanding of biological systems, particularly immunology Experience with molecular biology is preferred Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills Details
