Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as an advanced practice nurse, providing primary and specialty healthcare services to patients across the lifespan. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the NP delivers comprehensive care, promotes health education, and advocates for patient wellness. The NP, in collaboration with the Chief of Neurology and faculty, assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice. This includes but is not limited to taking patient histories, performing physical examinations, performing procedures (venipuncture, lumbar punctures, intramuscular injections, etc.), ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnoses, and providing care and management for common conditions in adult neurology patients. The NP may assist in the admission, transfer, or discharge from the health care system. Makes appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. Works within a multidisciplinary team to develop and execute the plan for the patient. Supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of Barrow Neurological Institute by complying with organizational policies and procedures. Qualifications
MINIMUM Master\'s in Nursing, graduate of accredited program for nurse practitioners 3 years\' clinical experience Compact state or Arizona RN license (RN) Arizona Advanced Practice Nurse license (LIC APN) National certification as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a) CT NP-AACN, b) CT NP-AANP, c) CT NP-ANCC, or d) CT NP-PNCB Valid DEA registration (DEA) Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification PREFERRED American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (CT ACLS) Overview
