Process Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary task will focus on the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) of injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion blow molding equipment. Develop a plan to reduce scrap and improve labor efficiency in the specified plant zone.
Focus on quality; troubleshoot machine processes and tooling issues to optimize part quality and minimize inefficiency and rework.
Develop and review process spec sheets for tools and products; document molding machine parameters and TPMs (Total Preventative Maintenance) daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
Participate in weekly Top 5 scrap meetings to gather information to minimize scrap and improve margin.
Interview, train, and assess the technical ability of process technicians to ensure processes are repeatable.
Ensure machines, tools, blenders, and robot processes meet process standards and are functional and calibrated correctly.
Assist with development and launch of EOAT (end of arm tooling) to ensure parts are pulled from machines accurately without damage.
Perform first production run off to ensure standards and cycle times can be met on new tooling, machines, and product changes.
Establish molding partnerships inside the plant as well as with current tooling suppliers.
Assist with design review for new in-house tools.
Assist with installation of new equipment and troubleshooting of initial production.
Participate in continuous improvement activities in the press area.
Work closely with Spectrum Polymers to ensure resin specifications meet product requirements.
Foster collaboration with technical staff and leadership to drive process improvement and innovation.
Leadership

Fill in for technical supervisors in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or equivalent from an accredited university
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling/drafting software, including FEA
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a mid-high volume manufacturing environment
Leadership or direct supervisor experience required
Experience with high-volume production machining equipment across multiple tooling and product lines
Quality System Knowledge (ISO/QS/TS)
Structured problem-solving skills (8D/A3)
Experience with process optimization, statistical analysis, and Six Sigma methodologies (FMEA, DVP&R)
Capital equipment justifications and production equipment capacity planning
Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship
Preferred (Not Required)
5+ years of manufacturing experience in plastics (Stretch Blow Molding, Injection Molding, Extrusion Blow Molding)
Experience with process production manufacturing (Plastic Mold Design, Plastic Mold Flow)
