Lead Engineer I – Quality Manufacturing
to join our team at our facility located at 2000 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, MI 48341. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing analysis duties requiring experience in selecting and applying standard engineering principles and techniques. The position involves working in a process team or production cell specializing in assemblies, structures, accessories, material engineering, production, or test engineering. The role also leads defect and scrap reduction projects and actively supports Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) programs. This position is 100% onsite; no remote or hybrid option is available at this time. More Specific Duties Include: Assist in developing engineering procedures and specifications relevant to assignments. Advise engineering and production personnel regarding test requirements, procedures, and product specifications. Assist in the evaluation of results. Support PPAP and APQP implementation, providing updates to project leads and the Quality Management team. Perform DFMEA and PFMEA analyses to prevent product development and process failures. Conduct planning reviews and implement new or improved tools for process improvements. Assist in first article runs to verify planning clarity, tooling, and fixture accuracy. Perform Discrepancy Report History Reviews, Red X root-cause problem-solving, and PQE Reviews. Track First Pass Yield and scrap metrics; develop and implement corrective actions. Conduct design/analysis assignments for complex products and resolve engineering problems. Review manufacturing methods and processes to ensure compliance with engineering specifications. Collaborate with the Quality Department to contain and correct production-related issues. Work with FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) parts, tracking progress and implementing inspection updates. Write Discrepancy Reports and create/resolve Corrective Action Reports. Partner with design engineers to address tooling and design issues. M-F 40 hrs./wk. 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Manufacturing, Mechatronic, Quality or Aeronautical Engineering (U.S. or Foreign) or a related field. 1 year of experience using and implementing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) programs. 2 years of experience performing Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) analyses. 2 years of experience in quality and manufacturing gearbox, housing, valve, and heatsink assemblies for the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. 2 years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering with gas turbine engines for the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
