Job Overview SM Hentges & Sons Inc. is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Civil Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of large-scale heavy civil construction projects. Based out of Castle Rock, Colorado, this role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with day-to-day oversight of jobsite operations, schedules, and financial tracking.
Support pre-construction efforts, including subcontractor coordination, bid reviews, and procurement logistics.
Track project quantities, daily production rates, labor hours, and change order impacts.
Work collaboratively with superintendents and field teams to identify and solve technical and logistical challenges.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation: RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, progress reports, and logs.
Ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and internal processes.
Foster professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors.
Contribute to project closeout activities, including punch list tracking, final inspections, and document turnover.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
1-3 years of hands‑on experience in civil construction (highway, utility, or infrastructure focus).
Understanding of construction documents, schedules, cost control, and contracts.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tools like Vista, B2W, Primavera P6, HCSS, or Procore is a plus.
Excellent communication, documentation, and multitasking skills.
Strong commitment to jobsite safety and construction quality.
