pdblowers, Inc. is a leader in the distribution and system integration of positive displacement blowers and vacuum pumps and has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
This position is active in product development for all standard product as well as custom product lines. The individual will be a resource for product, manufacturing and outside sales support. Project management skills are challenged implementing new design ideas and technologies into developing product lines and current manufacturing processes. Cost estimating responsibility is also integral to all project and design activities.
Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success:
Design and engineering of new products and custom design projects
High degree of mechanical aptitude
Training and/or experience using air or gas handling systems
Training and/or experience in mechanical drive systems
Experience in noise attenuating enclosures
Hands on approach to completing work
Strong problem-solving skills
Self-motivated and a self-starter capable of working independently
Composure under pressure with the ability to present a constructive attitude when faced with adversity
Confidence in their abilities and assertive when expressing their own ideas
Ability to manage multiple projects with a desire to work in an environment where their “plate is always full”
Experience with ERP systems, indented Bills of Materials and routing
Technical design and documentation
Ability to manage and guide mechanical designers
Technical Skills Requirement:
Product knowledge
Manufacturing process knowledge
Machining, forming, welding, fabrication and assembly Sheet metal design Structural steel design and fabrication
Equipment knowledge CAD skills in SolidWorks or equivalent Equipment software Business systems software – Epicor experience preferred Office systems software – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Google Applications (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) Responsibilities: Review customer specifications and application requirements Develop a Bill of Materials for specific projects Research components and verify that they meet project specifications Work with purchasing and application engineers to ensure that components are specified correctly and ordered within appropriate time frame Review the work of mechanical designers to ensure that system design conforms to specifications Interface with customers to work through any deviations in specified requirements Work with fabrication department to ensure that equipment is fabricated and assembled in accordance with specified requirements Work with production in order to maintain shipping schedules Final review of project documentation prior to shipment Interface with customers during final inspection Coordinate all aspects of projects with customer Experience & Education Requirements: Design/Project Engineering: 10 years Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) or Industrial Design (AAS) Job Type: Full Time Job Location: pdblowers, Inc. offers a competitive salary and comprehensive employee benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, paid time off, 401(k).
