Aerobiology, Animal Clinical Pathology and Telemetry (AAT) Research Technician
to support a government customer at Ft. Detrick. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this exempt position has been established at:
$75,000 - $84,000 .

Job Summary
The Employee shall provide laboratory support by assisting in aerosol exposures and executing research protocols as directed by AAT Leadership. Responsibilities include executing scientific studies, data collection/entry, maintaining laboratory space and equipment, and working in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories with controlled substances. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assist in generating, characterizing, and sampling biological aerosols supporting pathogenesis and medical countermeasure studies against biothreat agents, including animal plethysmography, aerosol supervision, bacterial and viral assaying, and decontaminations. Workload: approximately 75-120 exposures/year. Investigate infection events in laboratory animals, support animal protocols, and complete study activities in BSL-2, BSL-3, or BSL-4 labs. Workload: up to 20 protocols/year. Perform assays such as viral and bacterial stock characterization, plating, ELISA, RT-PCR, microarray, cytokine analysis, and in vitro sample analysis. Conduct clinical pathology evaluations including hematology, clinical chemistry, and coagulation analyses. Maintain laboratory space and equipment, record maintenance, replenish supplies, and assist with SOP writing, revision, and review to meet GLP standards. Coordinate and collaborate on technical training programs, demonstrate proficiency, and assist in training other staff. Assemble, calibrate, test telemetry systems, troubleshoot issues, and support telemetry studies in BSL environments. Operate and maintain telemetry equipment, maintain inventory, and support data analysis and reporting. Assist in data entry, chart and graph development, manuscript and poster preparation, and present research findings at scientific conferences. Maintain records according to GLP, complete required training, and perform routine cleaning and safety checks of containment areas. Support animal protocols with observations, sample collection, euthanasia, and tissue collection, under guidance and in compliance with GLP and IACUC standards. Report safety or SOP non-compliance, provide technical support, and coordinate task coverage as needed. Maintain required certifications (CS-PRP, BPRP) and coordinate with team for containment restrictions and coverage needs.
