Education and Experience
Valid California Driver’s License Applicants must have attained the age of 18 years of age Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or another related Mental Health field Registered with the Board of Behavioral Science as an Associate (ACSW, APC, AMFT) Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) First Aid certification from organizations including but not limited to the American Red Cross How you will make a difference
The Mental Health Specialist assesses clients at start of treatment (reviews as needed), develops and maintains treatment plans, and conducts family collateral and discharge planning. Duties include discussing goals and objectives of proposed treatment plans and establishing a contract with the consumer. Interviewing consumers to team with mental health professionals in determining the needs of individuals or groups on a walk-in/telephone basis; respond to potential suicide or other emergency events. Visits clients, individually or as part of a team, in a variety of living situations, to help assess the mental health needs of individuals and families, observe progress, provide counseling, gather data, and report significant changes in the client’s condition to designated professional staff. The Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) is a short-term voluntary residential facility tailored to adults aged 18-59 experiencing psychiatric crises. Its purpose is to provide a safe environment for stabilization, recovery, and community transition. Services offered include round-the-clock programs, therapeutic and mental health services, rehabilitation and recovery support (including substance use rehabilitation), pre-vocational or vocational counseling, medication evaluation and support, daily exercise, health/wellness education, and crisis intervention.
