University of Utah Health invites applicants for the Ultrasonographer – Nights, 6:30pm‑7:30am Fri, Sat, Sun role. Competitive pay Working environment This is an outstanding, specialized group that works closely together, focusing on maternal fetal medicine, fetal surgery, general radiology ultrasound, and transplants. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound exams and providing direct patient care, including ultrasound‑guided procedures. The role also assists providers and may involve administering medications within scope and state law. Responsibilities Ensure the appropriate exam is performed based on physician orders and patient history. Verify and enter/select patient demographics. Provide accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exam. Perform ultrasound examinations, tailoring exams based upon findings and likely diagnosis. Update patient logs and submit billing. Ensure operation of equipment and coordinate necessary maintenance. Assist with training of student sonographers, residents, and fellows. Assist physicians with invasive procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to perform essential functions as outlined above. Ability to provide care to the population served. Demonstrate knowledge of principles of lifespan growth and development and assess patient status. Demonstrate human relations and effective communication skills. Qualifications Licenses required: Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (obtained within 30 days of hire). One of the following:
Current ARRT Registration for Sonography (S). Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an Abdomen specialty (RDMS‑AB). Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an OB/GYN specialty (OB/GYN). Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Preferred qualifications: ARRT registration as a Radiologic Technologist (R.T.). Working Conditions and Physical Demands This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects such as medical equipment or patients while providing medical care. Physical requirements: climbing, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, pulling and/or pushing, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping, crouching, walking.
