Responsibilities
Conduct client interviews and assessments to review substance use disorder and treatment history.
Evaluate client response to treatment to modify treatment plans, manage caseloads, develop individualized treatment plans and goals.
Assist with and provide didactic group counseling, including psychoeducation, drug education, and family education to ensure peer support.
Provide individual counseling and educational programs addressing relapse prevention, problem solving, behavior modification, anger management, and pro-social adjustment.
Manage a caseload up to 25 clients, per state and contract requirements.
Collaborate with clients to develop discharge summaries and continuing care/relapse prevention plans for supervisor approval.
Coordinate required services to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations to support recovery.
Collect and maintain treatment records to ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, accreditation, and contractual requirements.
Perform office duties such as answering phones, handling inquiries, and organizing intake materials.
Qualifications
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a helping profession from an accredited college or university.
Some prior counseling experience, and experience in substance use disorder or mental health treatment is preferred.
Must obtain certification within 30 months of first counseling services date. Acceptable certifications include: Georgia Addiction Counselor (GACA), NAADAC, ICRC; or licensures such as LPC, LAPC, LCSW, LMFT, CPCS.
Must be able to obtain Georgia Department of Corrections clearance to work in a correctional institution.
Physical requirements
Works in a correctional facility.
Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time.
Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; negligible force may be required frequently or constantly.
Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal; record and verify documents; respond to telephones and alarms.
Compensation (based on experience and credentials)
Non-Credentialed range begins at $20.50 per hour - $21.50 per hour.
Credentialed ranges begin at $25.00 per hour - $27.00 per hour.
Sign-on bonus: Up to $3,000 for certified/licensed counselors.
Gateway conducts annual merit increase reviews.
