Overview
CT Technologist position at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) – Downtown Dallas, Texas. Unit: Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner. Shift: PRN/Days – covering Mon-Fri day shifts as needed. On Call: No mandatory call; optional within a 60-minute radius.
Job Summary The CT Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs CT procedures on patients. These procedures are requested by a physician or licensed provider to diagnose disease and injury, following established protocols.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner; maintain production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
Demonstrate understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring; take action if the estimated dose or reference levels are exceeded, including patient follow-up when needed.
Demonstrate proper use of iSTAT point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels as required.
Use AIDET to communicate with patients; identify patient service needs; ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient; establish rapport with patients and families; instruct and communicate about the test; assess patient tolerance.
Prepare patient and area for the procedure; position the patient, adjust immobilization devices, move equipment into position; set exposure factors.
Protect patients and staff by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies; use sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintain hand hygiene.
Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; collaborate with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation.
Report issues to management or the appropriate department; assist in maintaining supplies inventory; screen entrants according to approved policies.
Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation (requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies and procedures).
Maintain medical imaging records in the appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for timely interpretation.

Maintain current knowledge, education, and skills for care of patients from newborns to geriatrics; serve as a preceptor for new team members.
Able to take call if required.

Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an Accredited Program
Experience: 1 year CT Technologist experience
Certification/License/Registration:
BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography (CT)
Licensed by the State of TX Medical Board as Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
