Research Technician II
to support work on corneal diseases. Dr. Sangita Patels lab, Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Buffalo, is located at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. The lab studies the physiology of the corneal endothelium, the cell layer that maintains transparency of the cornea. There is an opportunity for growth as we will train the passionate candidate in the required skills.
Key responsibilities
Human and cow eye dissections
Preparing and maintaining cell cultures
Performing various bench laboratory protocols/experiments
Recording and analyzing results
Maintaining electronic databases and documents
General laboratory maintenance/upkeep activities
Assisting trainees in the laboratory

Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or two years formal training in subject matter directly related to the project or program
3 years of experience directly related to the project or program. Requires familiarity with the standards used in the field.

Excellent organizational, documentation and communication skills
Desire and ability to learn new skills quickly
Able to multitask
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cell culture techniques, laboratory microscopy, tissue dissections

Salary Range $37,000 - $45,000
