Laboratory Technician Essential Functions & Requirements
Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
Performs sample identification and preliminary screening of all incoming waste samples
Conducts fingerprint and wet chemistry analysis
Samples preparation of waste and water samples for organic and inorganic analysis
Completes an inventory of reagents, standards, gases and glassware
Completes the standard preparation for quantitative analysis
Operates and maintains lab instrumentation according to established guidelines
Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field or experience in environmental/industrial laboratory (required)
Experience
Previous experience with laboratory instrumentation (preferred)
Previous experience with EPA SW-846 and ASTM methodology (preferred)
Competencies
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communications skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
Strong laboratory safety and housekeeping skills
Ability / flexibility to work shift schedules including days, nights, weekends and holidays
Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
