Staff Psychologist (BHIP) (CBOC) – U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Base pay range: $88,428.00/yr - $163,848.00/yr Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a complete review of the EDRP application. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Education: Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) - the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) - or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed For the purpose of meeting this requirement, the term "specialty area" refers to the specific specialty areas recognized by the accrediting body APA accredits doctoral programs in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or combinations of two or more of those areas PCSAS accredits doctoral programs in psychological clinical science CPA accredits doctoral programs in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and school psychology There are no job assignments in VHA that require the skills of a school psychologist; an applicant with a degree in school psychology is not eligible for appointment OR - Doctoral degree in any area of psychology with a re-specialization program meeting specified conditions (APA or CPA accredited) and specialization aligned with the assignment OR - Doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a psychology-related dissertation and approved supervised internship Internships: Must be APA or CPA accredited at the time of completion and consistent with the assignment Temporary licensure exceptions for non-licensed applicants may apply under supervision; licensure must be obtained to avoid termination English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English Grade Determinations (GS levels): GS-11: Entry level, basic requirements GS-12: Developmental level, at least one year of professional psychology experience equivalent to GS-11; may require supervision GS-13: Full performance level, at least two years of professional psychology experience, including at least one year at GS-12; demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) in evidence-based treatments, treatment design, and research capabilities Additional KSAs include the ability to apply professional psychological treatments, design and implement treatment strategies, incorporate new clinical procedures, conduct research, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. Duties

Works as part of a multi-disciplinary BHIP team providing assessment, therapy, and rehabilitative services for Veterans with a wide range of mental and behavioral health diagnoses Provides psycho-diagnostic services including comprehensive psychological assessments, testing, and interpretation; employs evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques Offers assessment and treatment in multiple formats (individual, group, couples/family, telehealth, telephonic, and in-person) Develops, implements, and documents psychotherapy treatment plans for assigned caseload (CPRS) Participates in treatment team meetings; provides education to patients, families, and caregivers Provides consultation to BHIP team, Mental Health Service, SAVAHCS, and community providers on assessment and treatment plans Ensures timely completion of clinical reminders, consults, open encounters, documentation, and other clinical-administrative requirements Manages patient communications, including timely phone guidance and suicide risk assessments/remediation as per standards Provides case management as indicated; maintains professional responsibilities and credentials Maintains privileges and adheres to credentialing processes Deliver psychotherapy and psychological assessments for other programs in the Mental Health Service when needed Preferred Experience: time-limited evidence-based psychotherapy, diagnosing mental health disorders, and experience with Veterans/military populations Schedule: Monday – Friday, typical daytime hours; subject to service needs and potential adjustments Benefits and Logistics: EDRP eligible; relocation and recruitment incentives may apply as described in the job posting Parental Leave, Child Care Subsidy, Retirement, Insurance: Federal benefits outlined as part of VA compensation packages Telework: May be authorized; Virtual position: Not a virtual position Seniorilty level
