Bioanalytical Research and Instrumentation Scientist
IDEXX is growing rapidly and we are seeking to hire a
Scientist
into our
Bioanalytical Research and Instrumentation Center . In this role, you will perform a variety of scientific activities to support design, development, characterization, and control of new products and reagent processes. You will join a scientifically diverse team including staff with expertise in bioconjugate chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, surface and materials science, and process engineering. You will design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments to accelerate our rich pipeline of new products and technologies. We invite applicants with a range of relevant educational and work experience.
What You Will Be Doing
Partner with product development teams to develop well-defined reagents and manufacturable processes.
Design and conduct experiments, gather data, carry out analysis, and reach conclusions.
Coordinate with other functional areas to plan and implement work and exchange information and ensure efficient processes.
Recommend instrumentation and techniques to characterize materials and products to ensure quality.
Support day-to-day analytical characterization to support New Product Development activities.
Contribute to long-term characterization of IDEXX products and materials.
Utilize Lean, Six Sigma and other quality and reliability improvement techniques in ongoing work and participate in related projects.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s with 5-7 years of experience or Master’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in analytical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, bioconjugate chemistry, or protein chemistry.
Knowledge in surface and materials science and process engineering is a plus.
Experience in techniques such as HPLC, SEC‑MALS, SDS, CE, IEF, CD spectroscopy, etc. is required.
Desirable skills will include Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and BioLayer Interferometry (BLI).
Experience with peptide synthesis or cell isolation work a plus.
Problem solving ability associated with product development, manufacturing, or other technical issues. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and implement solutions. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to communicate to technical and non-technical personnel verbally and in writing.
