Construction & Props Building Specialist

to bring immersive escape room experiences to life with unique, interactive props. This role reports to the Head of Construction & Prop Building within the Projects & Installations Department.
What You’ll Do
Construct, paint, and install high‑quality props, set pieces, and furniture for themed escape rooms.
Incorporate electronic and mechanical elements into builds such as hidden compartments, motorized mechanisms, RFID sensors, and tech‑controlled puzzles.
Collaborate with construction leads, game designers, tech specialists, and project directors to ensure props function seamlessly in gameplay.
Produce replacement props on demand for existing Breakout locations.
Research and experiment with new materials, techniques, and technology integrations to improve prop durability and interactivity.
Travel to locations to install and verify functionality of props, set pieces, and furniture.
Essential Qualifications
Experience in carpentry & woodworking: ability to cut, assemble, and finish wood‑based props and structures.
Experience in scenic or themed fabrication – set design, theater production, or theme park construction is a plus.
Creative problem‑solving and attention to detail – design durable, gameplay‑enhancing props.
Ability to work with a variety of materials, including wood, foam, acrylic, and PVC, and apply painting & finishing techniques.
Strong collaboration & communication skills with cross‑functional teams.
Capability to lift & assemble large structures and use power tools safely.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with theatrical effects (pulley systems, hidden doors, automated features).
Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts to design movable or interactive elements.
Familiarity with puzzle mechanics & game flow in immersive escape rooms.
Certification or experience with CNC machining for custom components.
CAD design skills – certification or experience using CAD design software.
