Position
Water Resources Mechanic II, City of Livermore. The City is accepting applications to fill two vacancies at the I and II levels; this posting focuses on the II level. Description
Under general supervision, repairs and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment used in wastewater treatment, collection, storm, and water distribution systems; leads a crew; and performs other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement procedures and long‑term programs for process equipment and facilities maintenance. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems. Write and revise maintenance manuals, track work orders, and ensure timely completion. Lead a team of mechanics and temporary employees, assigning, training, and checking work‑in‑progress. Repair and maintain pumps, motors, compressors, piping, boilers, HVAC systems, blowers, chemical feed systems, and other treatment plant equipment. Maintain water resources facilities including treatment plant, lift stations, storm stations, buildings, grounds, and underground infrastructure. Perform welding, fabrication, painting, and shop maintenance. Maintain accurate records, research pricing, order materials, and ensure contract compliance. Use computer systems for spreadsheets, inventory control, and preventive maintenance work‑order generation. Essential Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years of experience in maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, gearboxes, boilers, blowers, piping, and similar equipment. At least two (2) years of that experience must be at a water or wastewater treatment plant. High‑school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by training in equipment maintenance and repair. Valid California Class C driver license; Commercial Class A driver license required prior to the probationary period. California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Mechanical Technologist Grade I certificate (required before probation) and Grade II certificate within three years of appointment. National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) Mobile Crane Operator license for telescopic boom cranes (required before probation). Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, safety practices, first aid, and computer operating systems. Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records, troubleshoot equipment, supervise a crew, work safely, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively. Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a lead worker. Additional certifications such as safety or industrial maintenance qualifications. Application
