Job Description Maintenance Mechanic A

Location:

St. Joseph, MO (Distribution Center - DC)

Pay:

$32.89/hr, with wage progression per the collective bargaining agreement. Paid weekly on Fridays.

Shift Differential:

2nd shift: +$1.00/hr

3rd shift: +$2.00/hr

Weekend shift: +$0.29/hr

Shifts:

3rd Shift (11:00pm-7:18am) and B Shift (11:00am-11:18pm). Overtime may be required.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain and repair production and plant utility equipment

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

Install, move, and modify equipment, including electrical, gas, water, and air hookups

Interpret schematics and blueprints to guide maintenance work

Operate shop tools and equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, grinder, welder, etc.)

Fabricate or repair jigs, fixtures, guards, racks, trays, and other parts/tools as needed

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize uptime

Log work orders, track parts usage, and maintain records using Maximo CMMS

Support safety programs and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives

Occasionally guide or assist lower-level mechanics or trainees

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

5+ years of industrial maintenance or mechanical trades experience

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical circuits, and fabrication

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

Must supply and maintain appropriate personal hand tools

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varied shifts as needed

Must be able to wear required PPE (uniform, safety shoes, glasses, earplugs)

U.S. or Legal Permanent (no sponsorship available)

Familiarity with CMMS systems (Maximo)

Experience in team-based improvement groups (HPTs, safety committees, etc.)

Proficiency with electrical diagnostic and testing equipment

About the Plant Our St. Joseph, Missouri Distribution Center (DC) plays a key role in the packaging, storage, and shipment of Clarios batteries. The facility employs more than 300 people and operates six days per week. The site fosters a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and recognition while also engaging in community initiatives and events.
