Under the supervisor, the ideal incumbent will perform duties associated with providing emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Respond to emergencies efficiently and promptly. Administer basic, advanced and critical care life support to patients at the scene or during transport, in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards, and Company policies. Assess the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures. Communicate effectively with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions or coordinate patient reception. Maintain order at scenes and coordinate facilities as needed. Complete patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and other required documentation in a competent and timely fashion. Adhere to safety and contamination policies concerning bloodborne pathogens. Educate and/or train first responders, hospital staff, EMS responders, fellow crew-members, EMS trainees and the public. Promptly respond to dispatched calls in accordance with Company policies and guidelines. Ensure helicopter is in good working condition, properly stocked, and ready for flights; maintain equipment in good working order. Clean, organize, and restock the helicopter after each flight. Handle transport requests and related communications via radio or other devices. Maintain accurate records of equipment, personnel, and operational data as required. Document each transport on the approved Patient Care Report per Company Policies and Procedures. Communicate professionally with confidentiality when handling information. Monitor communications equipment to stay in contact with dispatch and requestors. Maintain apparatus and equipment per policies, procedures and direction. Perform routine tasks around the ambulance service building (restocking, cleaning, inventorying equipment, PPE maintenance). Other Obligations And Skills

Be a team player and support system sanitation, readiness, and quality assurance standards. Be flexible to shift variations and available to respond immediately when on duty. Maintain knowledge of local geography and standards of care, including equipment functions. Ensure certifications, licenses and registrations are up-to-date. Conduct oneself in a courteous, professional manner with patients, co-workers, supervisors and the public. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Company computer use

Educational Requirements

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and current paramedic certification. Maintain required annual continuing medical education credits as set by the State EMS Office. Certificates, Licenses And Registrations

Valid driver’s license; Paramedic certification; ACLS; CPR for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) and/or BCLS (American Heart Association); HAZMAT R & I; PALS; Advanced trauma course (TNATC, TPATC, ATLS or equivalent) within one year of hire; FP-C within two years; NRP or equivalent within six months; and other certifications as required. Minimum Experience and Abilities

Three years of full-time ALS experience in a high-performance EMS system or equivalent. Basic computer knowledge. EMS and public education experience; field or classroom experience preferred. Supervision Exercised

Exercises no supervision. Physical Requirements

The position requires significant physical strength and the ability to operate in adverse environments with exposure to safety risks typical of emergency scenes. The following describes typical activity frequencies. Standing/Walking: Frequently to continuously; may include running in emergencies and navigating various surfaces and terrains. Sitting: Frequently in vehicles; time depends on the situation. Lifting/Carrying: Frequently to lift 50 lbs+; may involve lifting patients and heavy equipment up to 113 lbs for cylinders and similar weights for gear. Bending, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling: Frequently; may be prolonged during patient care or equipment handling. Climbing: Occasionally (stairs with patients, entering/exiting vehicles). Reaching: Frequently to continuous; access to patient care supplies and monitoring equipment. Pushing/Pulling: Frequently; moving gurneys, equipment, and doors. Handling/Grasping: Continuously; manipulate doors, equipment, and patient handling devices. Hazards: Exposure to dust, fumes, fire, chemicals, infectious materials, and potential violence; adherence to safety and infection control policies required. Other Physical and Mental Requirements

Maintain balance and strength in awkward positions; speak clearly under stress; communicate in English; respond quickly; work well with others. Handle stressful situations calmly; communicate empathetically; work with diverse personalities; demonstrate independent judgment when appropriate; follow laws, policies and procedures; maintain composure in emergencies. Job Responsibilities Related To Patient Privacy

Protect patient privacy in accordance with company policies and federal law; access to PHI limited to job duties; report privacy concerns to designated Privacy Officer; participate in privacy training. PHI Access and Privacy Roles: Access to PHI will be limited to the minimum necessary to perform duties (e.g., Patient Care Reports, hospital face sheets, dispatch run reports). Seniority level
