Collaborate with Obstetricians and Gynecologists when caring for women with obstetric, gynecologic, and general medical complications in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings. Perform accurate history and physical examination on obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal patients. Perform and/or request laboratory, radiologic and other diagnostic and screening tests, interpret results, and assess specific problems/complications. Provide inpatient obstetrical care including labor management and vaginal delivery. Start intravenous infusions; select and administer appropriate analgesia and anesthesia according to protocols. Provide well woman care to include family planning, counseling and the prescription of contraceptives. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement For Advanced Practice Nurse (Midwife) Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Midwifery is required. Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. APRN Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Midwifery or related specialty from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Requirements In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Professional Nursing Experience GS-12:

One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes performing physical exams, and managing labor and childbirth, and prescribing medications.
