Medical Coding Auditor (CPC) at McDermott Will & Schulte Farragut Square Group provides clients with research and policy advisory services on a range of healthcare topics, including Billing and Coding. This description reflects the Medical Coding Auditor role with CPC certification; reporting line to the VP of Billing & Coding within the group. Overview We are looking for a CPC-certified Medical Coding Auditor who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role involves performing accurate auditing reviews of medical records and physician services to identify and report audit outcomes and education needs, ensuring compliance with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, CDT, HCPCS coding and modifier guidelines. Responsibilities Perform accurate and compliant auditing reviews of medical records and physician services to identify and report audit outcomes and coding education needs. Conduct coding reviews for practice and ASC-based services, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, CDT, HCPCS, modifiers). Explain findings clearly to internal team members and demonstrate knowledge of CMS, payor, and Federal/state regulations. Interact professionally with client practices to obtain missing documents and necessary chart information. Qualifications CPC designation is required; experience auditing medical billing and coding reviews in a medical setting is required. CPMA and/or Inpatient Coding and Coding Instructor credentials are a plus but not required. 5+ years of current audit experience within a physician practice or hospital system. Excellent communication and time management abilities; position is remote. Familiarity with outpatient coding guidelines and willingness to learn sub-specialty guidelines (e.g., ophthalmology, urgent care, GI, pain management, autism/ABA) and other specialties. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to perform in a high-productivity, fast-paced environment. Base pay depends on location and experience; discretionary bonuses and comprehensive benefits are included as part of Total Rewards. Physical Demands and Work Environment Sitting, use of hands, reaching, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds; typical indoor office environment.
