Position Summary
The Registered Radiology Technologist RT(R)/Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) serves as a member of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Team. Independently assists physicians in performing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including hemodynamic procedures such as catheterization, angiography, stenting, and electrophysiology, while monitoring patients and ensuring their safety. Performs equipment quality assurance, supports inventory management, and data analysis. Responsible for radiation safety within the department and management of x-ray equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Prepare the Catheterization Laboratory and equipment for procedures, maintain supply inventory, and support a clean environment of care.
Prepare patients for procedures, including skin preparation and maintaining sterile technique.
Assist as a scrub technician during diagnostic, interventional, and other procedures in the Cath Lab, including emergent AMI procedures, stent placement, balloon angioplasty, and electrophysiology studies.
Operate as a hemodynamic monitor and control room operator during procedures; provide accurate recordkeeping and communicate with physicians regarding abnormalities and safety concerns.
Provide high-quality radiographic imaging, including quality assurance and radiation safety measures.
Review documentation such as procedure orders and patient medical records.
Communicate with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and enhance patient experience.
Maintain records of images, reports, equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Graduate of Radiology Technology program, registered radiology technologist through AART
Minimum Years of Experience:
Required: 1 year
Preferred: 2 or more years
License, Registry, or Certification:
Required: Registered Radiology Technologist RT(R) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or equivalent or registry eligible
