Overview A Millwright or Industrial Mechanic is a skilled professional who understands the operations and mechanisms of industrial plant equipment and is Responsible for the routine scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Dismantles, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical and mechanical controls and devices on upsetters, shears, blasters, cranes, conveyors, extrusion presses, PLCs and other related equipment.

Installs and troubleshoots motors, drivers, starters and IO/circuits.

Performs building maintenance.

Installs and maintains electrical devices, compressed air, and natural gas within the facility.

Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment within the facility.

Applies safe operating procedures during the performance of work.

Completes written records and maintains logs as required.

Proper use and operation of materials, tools, and supplies.

Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.

Installs robot and selects program.

Measures, cuts, and bends wire and conduit.

Drills holes for wiring and pulls or pushes wiring through opening.

Traces out short circuits in wiring.

Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.

Performs minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.

Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order.

Disassembles defective electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts, and reassembles equipment.

Performs non-load bearing, basic welding tasks.

Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.

Performs other routine duties.

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment in the field of Electrical Maintenance or as a Millwright.

Strong mechanical aptitude that will enable safe operation of a variety of equipment and tools.

Relevant education/training.

Ability to provide detailed descriptions through written and verbal communication work and machine conditions and status.

Ability to work independently and within a team with supervision as required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills

Ability to navigate basic technology including but not limited to use of digital self-service platforms, time clocks, and other systems where applicable.

Additional Skills and Experience

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Satisfactory completion of Elec-Test and Multi-Craft test.

Must possess ability to work all shifts to gain exposure to and experience with all maintenance and operational conditions.

Must be able to troubleshoot and repair by using test instruments, schematics or ladder logic.

Experience with RS Logix/Allen Bradley PLCs.

Experience with ABB/Motoman/Fanuc controls and robots.

Experience installing and troubleshooting motors, drivers, starters and IO/circuits.

Thorough working knowledge of lock/out tag/out and arc flash.

Must be familiar with and able to apply the Electrical Code.

Must be able to bend conduit with minimal assistance.

Must be familiar with the use and safe operating requirements of electrical testing devices.

Ability to interpret and apply written and numerical information from a drawing or blueprint including electrical schematics.

Weld and apply sound welding principles and safe operating procedures.

Use a cutting torch applying safe operating procedures.

Read dials and gauges with a variety of increments.

Use a level and square.

Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

High school diploma, or general education degree (GED).

Associate’s Degree in Industrial Maintenance or accredited Millwright certificate or training program.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts.

Use carts, dollies, cranes and jacks to transport material if needed.

Must be able to regularly lift and or move up to 25 lbs.

Climbing ladders and stairs to reach work at potential heights of 30 ft or more.

Navigate narrow walkways, confined spaces and overhead mezzanines.

Tolerate potentially extreme temperature fluctuations impacted by weather and machinery.

Acclimate to high noise and vibration levels in work spaces.

Wear and adhere to all PPE guidelines including hard hats, protective eye wear, ear plugs, and approved footwear with metatarsal and steel toe safeguards.

Comfortable working in confined work environments.

Work Environment The Maintenance Millwright/Electrician interacts with historic machinery throughout the facility which often involves proximity to heat, noise, debris, conveyance systems and other potentially dangerous equipment. The Millwright/Electrician will encounter high levels of floor and overhead traffic due to material transportation throughout the facility which can cause high levels of vibration and airborne disturbances. There are areas of paved and unpaved walkways, active shipping lanes and occasionally standing water to be cautious of.

Maintenance Technician and Master Maintenance Technician Requirements Maintenance Technician and Master Maintenance Technicians employees employed by the Company will have to both take the in‑field test (e.g., hydraulic rebuild of a pump, electrical aptitude and troubleshooting on a piece of equipment, welding capabilities, etc.). A Ramsey Maintenance Test Score above the 80th percentile will qualify the Maintenance Technician to be moved to the Master Maintenance Technician level.

Maintenance Technician – Minimum Requirements

Solid mechanical skills with experience in an industrial environment troubleshooting and performing mechanical repairs.

Solid welding and fabrication skills.

Basic understanding of industrial electricity.

Advanced mechanical skills with experience in an industrial environment troubleshooting and performing mechanical repairs.

A working knowledge in the following: basic arc welding, pipe fitting, schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial maintenance, rigging.

Electrical skills with experience in an industrial environment.

Proficient in 480v, 4160v, PLCs, VFDs, panel building, schematic’s.

Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair PLC’s.

Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair hydraulics, pneumatics.

Assist with equipment rebuilds.

Required to train other employees.

Master Maintenance Technician – Advanced All Maintenance Technician requirements plus the following:

Must be able to perform journeyman or Millwright/Industrial Mechanic type work and have experience in an industrial environment with respect to the same.

Advanced electrical skills with experience.

Highly skilled and proficient troubleshooter.

Ability to assist with machinery program changes.

Must be proficient with equipment rebuilds.

Required to train other employees.

Position Title Hourly Rate

Master Maintenance Technician $40/hr

Maintenance Technician $35/hr
