Position Overview The College of Engineering’s Multidisciplinary Engineering Design course is taught by faculty who bring real‑world experience into the classroom. These diverse faculty members are expected to instruct and mentor student project teams through their first open‑ended, multidisciplinary design experience. Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students, participation in accreditation activities and committee assignments, and service to the University, State, and profession.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach on‑campus.
Advise, evaluate, and assist students.
Work with EGEN 310 instructional lead and instructional team to develop curriculum as needed.
Contribute positively and professionally to the academic success of students and the mission of Montana State University.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Relevant degree and experience in Engineering and/or Computer Science.
Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Relevant professional experience and insight into the theoretical frameworks of the field or discipline of teaching responsibility.
Currency in area of teaching responsibility.
Previous teaching experience.
The Successful Candidate Will
Have a broad understanding of the design process.
Have the ability to mentor and inspire a diverse student body.
Possess excellent written and oral communications skills.
Have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and the engineering industry.
Have the potential to provide leadership and to assume responsibility for organizational and program activities.
Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Union affiliation may apply, determined by job duties and collective bargaining unit. Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues.
Positions less than 0.5 FTE are not represented by the Union and are not required to pay dues.
Union representation status may change if FTE changes during employment.
Exceptions: faculty who have completed a PEI exam or Extension work are exempt.
