Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Non‑Tenure Track Faculty (Applicant Pool) Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non‑tenurable level instruction and mentoring in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or industrial engineering. Faculty are expected to contribute to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, advising and mentoring students, participating in accreditation activities and committee assignments, and serving the university, state, and profession.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach on‑campus and/or online courses.

Advise, evaluate, and assist students.

Participate in curriculum and course development.

Contribute positively and professionally to the academic success of students and the mission of Montana State University.

Required Qualifications

Relevant degree and experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant professional experience and insight into the theoretical frameworks of the field or discipline of teaching responsibility.

Currency in the area of teaching responsibility.

Previous teaching experience.

The Successful Candidate Will

Have a broad understanding of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering.

Be able to mentor and inspire a diverse student body.

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and the engineering industry.

Have the potential to provide leadership and assume responsibility for organizational and program activities.

Union Status

Positions of 0.5 FTE or higher are represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU).

Positions of less than 0.5 FTE are not represented by a union and are not required to pay dues.

Union representation may change if FTE changes during employment.

Faculty who have completed a PEI exam or work in extension are exempt from union representation.
