The Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) seeks an Instrumentation Process Control Coordinator II to support reliable operation of wastewater plant instrumentation systems. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting communication networks, field instrumentation, PLC programming, and SCADA systems.
Essential Functions
Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI, and automated control systems to ensure seamless plant operations.
Install, configure, calibrate, and repair process control instrumentation (flow meters, sensors, pressure transmitters, analyzers, etc.) for accurate process monitoring.
Analyze process data and system performance to identify inefficiencies, implement optimizations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Lead diagnostics to resolve control system failures and operational issues promptly.
Manage and maintain critical alarm notification systems such as Win‑911 to support timely responses.
Administer and optimize data‑collection platforms (IntelaTrac, Thin Client Manager, E‑Logger) for accurate reporting.
Maintain communication networks, including radio systems and industrial network protocols, for reliable data transmission.
Oversee SCADA servers and network infrastructure in collaboration with the IT Department to ensure secure and efficient communication.
Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs to enhance reliability and performance.
Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and upgrades.
Interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
Perform PLC programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including SCADA system administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in electronics technology, instrumentation, process control, or related field, plus four years experience in repair, maintenance, installation, calibration, and operation of electronic instrumentation and PLC/SCADA systems.
Three years of experience as an Instrumentation Process Control Coordinator I or closely related position, with PLC operations, programming, and SCADA network communications.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic instrumentation.
At least 2 years in PLC programming and troubleshooting, including Modbus, Profibus, Hart, Bluetooth, Ethernet/IP.
At least 1 year reading panel drawings, electrical schematics, and P&ID drawings.
At least 1 year experience with RF/telemetry, networked radios, and microwave radio systems.
Experience with IntelaTrac, E‑Logger, Win‑911 or similar data‑collection systems.
Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license and successful DOT motor vehicle record review (39 months) are required.
Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 70 pounds, frequent bending, standing, walking, and use of fall protection. Vision and hearing adequate for reading gauges and operating equipment.
Working conditions: outdoor work in hot weather, exposure to water, chemicals, electrical hazards, and potential arc flash.
