Hourly Pay:
$20.00
per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
Shift: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 12:00 am
Paid training to become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines (preferred)
Must be 18 years of age or older
Proficiency in written and verbal English
Demonstrated customer service skills
Strong technical aptitude; ability to learn to use and maintain equipment (preferred)
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems (preferred)
Work independently and as a team member
Represent Ryder professionally to employees and customers
Time‑management and priority‑setting skills
Good attendance and performance record
Personal accountability and track record of results
Computer skills, Microsoft Office (preferred)
Beginner knowledge of machines and tools (preferred)
Beginner knowledge of shop management systems (preferred)
Valid commercial driver license (Class A preferred)
DOT‑regulated position; minimum age/wage requirements per state law
Regulated Tech
Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years
Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badge or background requirements of the customer.
Responsibilities
Move heavy‑duty vehicles into or out of the yard, wash bay, service shop, or deliver to rental shop. Wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles while adhering to safety policies; record fuel activity and maintain fuel and DEF inventories and reconciliation using hand‑held devices.
Perform multi‑point inspection on inbound units as required by company policies; check tire pressure, thread, fluid levels, lights; wash windows; change tires; inspect refrigeration units on trucks; report service or driver issues to the shop.
Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards; perform some facility maintenance and minor tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments. The program includes hands‑on and online training as well as tasks learned. Key areas: Service Island Training – multi‑point inspection, vehicle fueling and washing, environmental safety, spill response, safe driving, organization (6S).
Technician I – preventive maintenance, tire and wheel, service bay tools.
Technician II – HD electrical, air and hydraulic brakes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
