Inspects and maintains the main campus 15kV medium voltage electrical distribution system, Southwest campus FSU-owned 15kV assets, and 600V secondary service up to the load side of a facility's incoming service disconnecting means. Conducts yearly preventative maintenance inspections, including thermographic imaging, for all medium voltage distribution equipment, including, but not limited to, sectionalizing switches, utility transformers, and 15kV metal clad switchgear. Responsible for repairing or replacing medium voltage distribution equipment as practical or coordinating repair/replacement efforts with contractors and equipment suppliers. Routinely inspects the interior of manholes to check cable systems, ground rods, bonds, and busses. Assists contractors when accessing manholes and locating existing buried utilities. Performs medium voltage switching to isolate the campus distribution system circuit segments to facilitate new building projects, equipment, and cable replacement projects, and to isolate faults during partial campus power outages. Responsible for altering, maintaining, installing, and repairing wiring, conduits, fittings, and fixtures in the repair and renovation of parking lot lighting, roadway lighting, and pedestrian lighting for all FSU facilities located in Leon and Gadsden counties. Locates and corrects power failures and faults in aerial and underground lighting circuits. Aerial repairs may require climbing ladders or bucket trucks. Performs quarterly night patrols to ensure adequate lighting levels are maintained at all facilities. Inspects and maintains the 5kV feeders and equipment for the campus chillers in the Central Utility Plant and Satellite Utility Plants. Performs troubleshooting tasks in response to chiller power failures, and assists contractors during chiller diagnoses and repair. Coordinates with the Utilities Metering Department to install, maintain, repair, or replace permanent electrical metering equipment. Coordinates with contractors, FSU BCA, and Utilities Accounting on the installation and removal of temporary electrical metering equipment used during large-scale construction projects. Develops and maintains electronic files (thermographic imaging, preventative maintenance inspection files, equipment inventories, etc.). Assists Senior Electrical Engineer with updating the Medium Voltage Single Line Diagram CAD file and campus underground ductbank CAD file. Maintains tools and equipment in a safe and workmanlike manner. Reads and follows electrical construction documents (blueprints), oral instructions, and written work requests. Operates University vehicles as necessary. Assists zone, electric shop, and in-house construction electricians in troubleshooting and repair as needed. Performs other related work as assigned by the supervisor. Completes all assigned training related to 15kV voltage responsibilities. Qualifications

High school diploma and two years of experience, or a post-high school education with two years of related experience. A relevant technical or vocational degree may substitute for experience. Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position, including the ability to climb ladders. A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or ability to obtain upon hire.
