Consultant - Head of Land Development (OH)
Land Development Engineer - Toledo Position Overview A multidisciplinary engineering and design firm is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Land Development team at one of its regional offices. The team partners with clients across public and private sectors, offering comprehensive civil and site consulting services. This includes conducting site feasibility assessments during the due diligence phase to identify challenges and develop strategic solutions. The team has experience in a wide range of development types, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, educational, healthcare, industrial, and energy projects. Key Responsibilities Design land development projects using Civil 3D, focusing on site layout, grading, and utility systems. Analyze zoning codes, land development ordinances, and regulatory requirements to determine site constraints. Conduct site investigations and due diligence, including ordinance reviews, utility research, regulatory analysis, and site visits. Prepare conceptual site plans aligned with client goals and due diligence findings, coordinating with drafting staff. Lead the design and review of stormwater management and conveyance systems using Civil 3D and hydrology software. Perform calculations for stormwater systems, including drainage mapping and hydraulic analysis using Rational Method and Manning's Equation. Apply knowledge of stormwater regulations to ensure compliant and efficient designs. Develop grading plans that balance earthwork efficiency with safety and regulatory standards. Design subdivision layouts and site plans. Engineer utility systems such as stormwater, sanitary sewer, water, gas, and telecommunications, resolving potential conflicts in design. Create erosion and sediment control plans, including stability assessments and construction sequencing. Generate construction cost estimates based on site plans for bonding and budgeting purposes. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff. Collaborate with infrastructure teams on utility coordination and municipal utility design for complex transportation projects.
