The Mechanical Engineer will do a diverse mix of process scaling, hands-on equipment work, and design engineering. The Mechanical Engineer will troubleshoot and repair equipment, support process improvements, and help implement new systems as operations grow. They will also use CAD tools to design and refine components, support fabrication, and ensure systems are documented and reproducible. Success in this role requires adaptability, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment. RESPONSIBILITIES Support the transition of processes from lab-scale development to production-scale manufacturing. Work directly with machinery and equipment: troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, and ensuring reliable operation. Assist with the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and systems. Collaborate with technicians and operators to improve processes and equipment performance. Design & Development Contribute to the design, development, and refinement of equipment, tooling, and fixtures to support scaling operations. Create detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software. Support prototyping, fabrication, and validation of new systems and processes. Testing & Documentation Assist in developing and executing test plans for components, assemblies, and systems. Document designs, processes, and procedures to ensure reproducibility and compliance with internal quality standards. Analyze test results and provide recommendations for design or process refinements. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to solve problems and deliver reliable solutions. Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions clearly to teammates and leadership. Contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and hands-on engineering culture. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or equivalent hands-on experience. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or product development environment. Strong hands-on background with machinery, tooling, or troubleshooting equipment and repair. Experience supporting process scale-up, equipment commissioning, or manufacturing operations. Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) and ability to generate fabrication-ready drawings. Experience with prototyping, machining (CNC or manual), or fabrication methods a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and adapt to evolving priorities.
