Marine Electrician (Entry-Level) – Chesapeake, VA – Serco
Serco is seeking a Marine Electrician to support U.S. Naval Ships in Norfolk, Virginia. The ideal candidate will perform electrical and test work aboard ships, ensuring safe and reliable operations for critical naval missions.
Responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting and correct malfunctions. Conduct various tests or experiments, selecting, setting up, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data. Perform electrical work on ships, boats and marine equipment. Repair electrical wiring, restoring electrical connection to power a ship's engine and navigation systems, and securing work areas aboard vessels to avoid electrical shock. Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; perform computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plot data and draw simple curves and graphs. Perform routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests, operate and adjust simple test equipment, record test data. Qualifications
A High School Diploma or equivalent. The ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance. A minimum of 1 year direct experience with electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment. The ability to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening. Be able to obtain an OSHA certification. Familiarity with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation. The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling positions for cable layouts, lift up to 50 pounds (80% of work), and push or pull up to 40 pounds, with standing, crouching, or walking positions. Attention to safety, which is critical. Be able to get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout the work shift. Candidate must be willing to travel up to 10% to various work sites. Ability to work onsite in Chesapeake, VA. Additional Desired Experience and Skills

Salary range: $75,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year.
