Participants in the Engineering internship program will have the opportunity to rotate through an engineering department within Collins Aerospace to learn aspects of the design, test, analysis and customer support of aircraft wheels and brakes and braking systems. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester); it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity. What You Will Do
Participates in product development activities, executes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards. Participate in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layout, and development of performance or maintenance requirements. Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. What You Will Learn
Learn test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests Learn about applied research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Gain knowledge in research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
