JOB OVERVIEW: Perform Engineering Duties at Valley Medical Center. ROLE: See generic job description for service partner for generic job duties. AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Facilities Engineering Department. HOURS OF WORK: Various shift work. RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager of Plant Engineering. Responsibilities
Performs the full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, modification and operational checks and testing at Valley Medical Center and associated clinics. Operates all boiler systems at Valley Medical Center. Perform periodic equipment inspections and follow maintenance schedules. Diagnose equipment malfunctions and initiate repairs. Plan and lay out work utilizing sketches and specifications provided. Determine tools required and estimate necessary materials or parts (e.g., wiring, fittings, contacts, breakers). Monitor, analyze and restore the loss of Essential Systems (e.g., Normal Power Distribution, vaccine refrigerators, pneumatic tube system, nurse call and paging system). Notify VMC managers and initiate corrective action. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair machinery, mechanical devices, system controllers and related mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and related power equipment per VMC guidelines. Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems (e.g., fire alarm, pneumatic tube, nurse call, building control system). Troubleshoot, repair and replace pipe assemblies and plumbing fixtures per VMC guidelines. Troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration units per VMC guidelines. Maintain medical center buildings in good working order and appearance to VMC standards, using correct product application to respective surface. Perform assigned duties during drills and emergencies. Demonstrate proper radio and telephone communication techniques. Qualifications
Be able to work in a team setting and work effectively with other shop personnel. Be detail oriented and solve technical and mechanical problems quickly. Have a comprehensive knowledge in Building Automation Systems (BAS). Experience operating complex utility systems including HVAC systems, Domestic Water systems, Steam system, Electrical systems, and electronic systems. Have a valid Steam License and must meet training and experience requirements. Prerequisites
High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Washington State driver’s license. Five years of experience in healthcare setting preferred. Five years of experience in Steam Plant Operations or Maintenance. Grade 4 Steam License. Grade 3 steam license preferred; must obtain Grade 3 steam license within 180 days of hire. Notes:
