The Gas Pipe Fuser position is integral to the construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution infrastructure. This role performs fusing tasks for new construction, repair, and maintenance of gas utility lines and related systems/equipment (including fusing pipe casings, vault lids and pipe fittings, fusing metal parts, hot gas mains, repairing parts, fabricating parts, etc.). Responsibilities
Support crew with handling and fusing gas pipe. Fuse pipe that is ditched or drilled in the ground. Ensure every fuse meets quality standards. Keep tools in complete working order. Locate utilities by hand with a shovel and probe. Manage inventory on the truck. Teach other employees how to fuse pipe to the correct specs. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications
Minimum High school diploma, or equivalent. 1 year of gas pipeline experience. Preferred Class A CDL. 2 or more years of gas pipeline experience. Operator Qualifications (OQs). Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment and requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting. Work may occur in inclement weather (extreme heat/cold, rain, ice, snow, wind). Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at various distances and precise hand-eye coordination are required.
