This role involves working independently or collaboratively with engineers and designers to develop and implement design solutions. The candidate will learn about proprietary ECL equipment, including high voltage power supplies, accelerators, and supporting equipment, and will design and test improvements to equipment, lead safety risk assessments, manage project execution including ECL equipment assembly, checkout and start-up of control systems, provide global troubleshooting support, and maintain project documentation while coordinating with project engineers and managers. Responsibilities
Work alone or in a team with other engineers and designers to identify, formulate, and implement design solutions. Learn about proprietary ECL equipment including high voltage power supplies, accelerators, cables, and supporting equipment. Apply process and equipment troubleshooting knowledge in plant, lab, and corporate environments. Provide troubleshooting support to equipment technicians worldwide to return failed equipment to production. Design, fabricate, and test improvements to ECL equipment by identifying and evaluating new technologies to improve yield, reduce downtime, and/or decrease cost. Lead or participate in safety risk assessments and implement corrective actions. Uphold radiation safety in project execution and engage with the RSO community on safety-related issues. Support the development and training of standard operating procedures as well as preventative and predictive maintenance documentation. Generate Electrical CAD drawings for control systems, including cabinet layout templates. Design electrical power distribution systems (480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, 24VDC) within control cabinets as templates for technology advancements. Finalize drawings, cabinet design, power distribution, etc. for each project derived from templates. Troubleshooting, checkout, and start-up of control system PLCs (mostly Allen Bradley), HMIs, and industrial networks. Build, test, and ship project equipment from the lab; assemble, install, and start up ECL equipment at facilities worldwide. Maintain Bill of Materials for equipment and control systems. Use Office 365 skills to organize and track purchase orders for equipment and controls and effectively execute projects. Direct electrical and mechanical contractors on site to install equipment as part of project execution. Maintain communication with the project engineer and project managers for smooth project execution, scheduling downtime, etc. Create RACI charts for projects, communicate with and manage stakeholders effectively as part of project execution, and highlight risks and opportunities for improvement using tools such as SmartSheet. Qualifications
Strong communication skills across multiple disciplines, including management. Experience in generating and updating Electrical CAD drawings. Ability to interpret, design, and note field changes for mechanical and electrical drawings. Experience or willingness to work with electrical distribution systems (480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, 24VDC). Experience or willingness to work with PLCs (mostly Allen Bradley), HMIs, and industrial networks. Self-motivated with the ability to learn and suggest improvements. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, take initiative and drive for results to exceed customer expectations. Proficiency in Office 365. Ability to lift, handle, and maneuver ECL equipment as needed. Able to manage multiple projects. Basic project management skills. Approximately 25%-30% domestic and international travel required. Education
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable technical field with 3-4+ years of related engineering or technical experience, OR An Associate’s degree in an applicable technical field with 5-8+ years of related experience.
