Optimized Process Designs LLC (OPD) invites applications for the Pipefitter position in La Porte, TX. OPD is an engineering and construction company focused on natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical projects. We provide a one‑stop shop of engineering, procurement, and construction services.
Your Job The jobsite is located in La Porte, TX.
Our Team OPD, headquartered in Katy, TX, operates under the larger Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) organization. Established in 1980, we pride ourselves on honesty, integrity, and the ability to deliver complex projects efficiently.
What You Will Do
Read drawings, take measurements, and install piping efficiently.
Maintain basic blue‑print knowledge.
Bolt, clamp, and tack‑weld parts for welding.
Identify metal thickness and types.
Position and clamp components for welding.
Use pipe fittings, bolts, valves, and related equipment per specifications.
Secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment by welding and threading joints with accuracy.
Handle rigging equipment manually.
Perform small‑area welding as required.
Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut‑off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw‑Zall.

Recognize and report safety hazards and risks.
Attend onsite safety meetings.
Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures.
Stay alert to changing jobsite conditions.
Be punctual and ready to work at the jobsite each day.

Maintain high attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors.
Some Physical Demands of Being a Pipefitter
Work outdoors in extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations.
Lift and carry awkward objects up to 60 lbs.
Stand for extended periods up to 12 hours per day.
Perform frequent arm, leg, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending motions.
Work on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow beams and pipes while wearing a full‑body harness and lanyard.
Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and tools.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
At least 1.5 years of experience as a pipefitter.
Willingness to travel, including extended periods away from home in remote areas.
Availability for shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Ability and willingness to meet all physical demands of the job.
Commitment to attending mandatory safety meetings.
Demonstrated safety role‑model behavior.
What Will Put You Ahead
Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment.
3 years of pipefitter experience.
Leadership experience in safety initiatives.
Basic welding knowledge.
