Location: North Kern State Prison (NKSP) in Delano, Kern County, California.
Employment type: Part‑time (20 hours per week). Salary: Monthly part‑time range $4,579.50–$4,951.50.
Job Description Under the direction of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility or Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, the Recreation Therapist (RT) develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs for inmates. The RT instructs and motivates patients in individual and group recreation therapy, monitors and documents treatment progress, and collaborates with other health‑care providers to integrate recreational therapy into treatment plans. The RT also maintains order and supervises patient conduct to ensure safety of people and property.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs for patients.
Instruct and motivate patients in individual and group recreation therapy sessions.
Monitor and document treatment progress and share assessments with other health‑care providers.
Integrate recreation activities into treatment plans.
Maintain order and supervise conduct to protect safety of persons and property.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy.
Completion of supervised fieldwork required for the major.
Evidence of graduation or equivalent and field‑work completion to be provided during application.
