Master HVAC Technician
at
Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12- Special Projects . Performs highly skilled work in the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems in County buildings and facilities, including installation and alteration. Develops preventative maintenance programs and schedules inspections of equipment and related systems for all County buildings. Estimates time and materials needed for project completion and maintains an inventory of materials and supplies. Work is performed under minimal supervision. Responsibilities
Monitors building automation control systems to ensure employee comfort. Responds to HVAC service problems; diagnoses and repairs problems. Installs, programs and repairs building automation control systems. Maintains computerized log of repairs and maintenance. Performs scheduled cleaning and servicing on boilers, heating and air conditioning systems, replacing or repairing parts as appropriate. Inspects, maintains, and repairs ice machines, water coolers, refrigerators, and freezers, vent and exhaust systems, pumps, clothes washers, dryers, gas and electric ranges, etc. Fabricates and installs sheet metal transitions and ducts; sizes and locates HVAC system ducts and registers; adjusts air balancing and makes necessary repairs to ducts (e.g., dampers, insulation, additional registers). Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by vocational/technical training in refrigeration and heating trades, and 6 years of experience in residential, commercial, and/or industrial air conditioning and heating work. Successful completion of a 4-year accredited HVAC apprentice program. Must be available to respond to calls for service after normal working hours on a rotational basis. This is an essential position requiring presence during inclement and extreme weather conditions. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Registration as a Master HVAC Tradesman. Requires a Master Gas Fitter’s Card. Requires Type I and Type II Refrigerant Certifications. Applicants registered as Journeyman HVAC Technicians may be considered for the Journeyman level with an advertised salary range; see the job description if applicable. Supplemental Information
Thorough knowledge of HVAC installation and repair, and of applicable codes. Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skill in performing highly skilled HVAC work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and drawings. Physical Demands
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment (heating/air conditioning systems, tools, meters, etc.) and to lift between 50-75 pounds. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Additional Information
