This position is within the ICE Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) organization and is for a Component Design/Release Engineer (CPMT Leader). The specific sub-systems of responsibility would be within the Base Engine Structure and would be defined at the point of employment, based upon the successful candidate’s skill set. Candidate should have significant experience with aluminum castings, including sand cast and high pressure die cast components (e.g., cylinder block, cylinder head, oil filter adapters, oil pans, cam covers). Responsibilities
Design & Release new and existing components/sub-systems. Lead sub-system CPMT activities. Lead WERS (Worldwide Engineering Release System); alerts, concerns and notice processing. Lead/Support resolution of major design, manufacturing, program, and launch issues. Create, complete, approve DVPs and oversee testing in support of robust validation. Develop and maintain CPMT documents, including quality documents (FEDE, ESOW, DFMEA, PTDV, e3P, SCCAF’s, Global Integrator, OPTIX, PPAP, 543 Chart, etc.) for program specific sub-system responsibilities. Support all Program Meetings (EPMT, Design Review, DPMT, Change Control, etc.). Work directly with Suppliers, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), and Launch teams to support program requirements and resolve quality issues. Interface with Engine Dynamometer Testing team and cross-functional team members (Purchasing, Mating Components, Calibration, Suppliers, Manufacturing). Support Prototype Engine Build PAT (BOM, inspection and prototype fit reviews). Support travel, both domestic and international, when required. Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or related field 3+ years Design and Release Experience Technical expertise with Gasoline Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) Experience with Base Engine Dynamometer Testing Experience with CAE Simulation Methodologies (1D, 3D, FEA, CFD) Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders Strong Leadership ability Black Belt Certification (preferred) Note:
