Bradford White
Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Advanced Development and Simulation
Bradford White, Middleville, Michigan, United States, 49333
Overview
Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Advanced Development and Simulation at Bradford White. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Development team, specializing in simulation-driven product design. This role emphasizes the use of FEA and CFD to explore, evaluate, and validate early-stage concepts, enabling faster development cycles and more robust designs. You will support advanced technology vetting and rapid prototyping through in-depth virtual analysis and design iteration. You will also provide advice and/or simulations to support new product developments across the corporation. Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced engineering analyses, including FEA (thermal, structural, fatigue) and CFD (airflow, combustion, heat exchange) to support concept feasibility and optimize designs. Lead or contribute to mechanical design efforts for new product platforms and technology evaluations. Translate simulation results into actionable design improvements and test plans. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation insights into prototypes and validate models through testing. Develop and execute test plans to verify simulation results and product performance. Participate in the design of experiments (DOE), tolerance stack-ups, and root-cause analyses. Support early-stage product architecture, materials selection, and manufacturing feasibility. Educational & Technical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and simulation. Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (linear/nonlinear, thermal, modal, fatigue). Strong background in Computational Fluid Dynamics, especially in applications like airflow, heat transfer, combustion systems, or heat exchangers. Proficiency in simulation tools such as NASTRAN and Start CCM+, or similar platforms. Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and structural mechanics. Experience working with physical prototypes and correlating experimental results with simulations. Familiarity with materials behavior (metals, polymers, composites) and manufacturing processes (sheet metal, casting, injection molding). Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and cross-functional collaboration. Experience in high-volume consumer products, appliances, HVAC, or pressure-containing systems is a plus. Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguity-tolerant R&D environment. Why Join Us?
