Prioritize and direct project activities during the project lifecycle including planning, scheduling, change management, design, procurement, manufacturing, integration, testing, shipping, and handoff to Service. Ensure assigned projects meet contractual objectives by managing the project schedule, cost, and scope. Proactively follow change control procedures when contractual objectives change; provide contingency plans and problem resolution reports to ensure customer satisfaction. Act as the primary contact between the customer and the organization to maintain customer relationships and drive customer satisfaction while meeting business objectives. Influence key stakeholders to meet customer needs and business requirements. Essential Responsibilities Provide consultation on proposal development, including estimating project management efforts and scheduling projects for proposals. Participate in the internal Kick Off meeting from Sales/Application Engineering to the organization. Initiate and lead the Customer Kick Off meeting. Flow down contract requirements to the project team to ensure obligations are understood. Develop the project schedule and allocate project budget based on commitments (internal and external). Develop and manage the project schedule with input from various departments to align with internal and contractual delivery commitments. Conduct project-specific meetings with in-house personnel and the customer as needed. Follow document management processes for project documentation to ensure compliance with business, contractual, and retention requirements. Manage the scope and deliverables from vendors and subcontractors. Validate project terms, conditions and commercial viability using Powell quote and standard practices as the baseline. Participate and present project status at Project Review and POC meetings as required. Coordinate project management responsibilities with project managers in other Powell Divisions on multi-organizational projects. Develop and manage Project Management Plans, as needed. Own the execution of project activities to meet cost, schedule, deliverables, and scope changes to achieve customer requirements. Proactively manage risks and opportunities; communicate with the business and the customer as needed. Follow the change management process to document and approve changes that impact cost, schedule, or scope. Serve as focal point for all communications between the customer and Powell. Lead problem resolution activities throughout the project lifecycle. Update project financials including budgets and forecasts; communicate risk and risk resolution to upper management/accounting for assigned orders. Ensure proper updating and reporting of project schedule status to the customer. Hold customer deliverables to maintain project schedule, cost, and scope. Prepare or oversee contractual invoicing and pursue timely payments; authorize payments for major buys to suppliers and subcontractors. Obtain formal acceptance from the Customer for all contractual deliverables. Authorize and approve all project shipments. Ensure completion of project closeout activities. Be accountable for commercial success, customer satisfaction, and delivery of assigned projects. Job Requirements Qualifications Bachelor Degree in business, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience. Preferably three (3) years of project management experience in construction, manufacturing, oil & gas and/or power distribution, or similarly complex projects. Member of a professional body and project management certification preferred. Experience with project management functions such as purchasing, commercial/sales, engineering management, etc. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence a matrix-organized team through the lifecycle of a project with a clear WBS aligned to scope, budget, and schedule. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all stakeholders. Detail oriented and results driven. Demonstrated ability to make good decisions based on limited information. Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence customers, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Strong focus on customer satisfaction. Experience delivering technical solutions to customers. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; adaptable to changing project conditions. Strong computer skills and proficiency with project scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, ERP system). Working Conditions The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment; some work in a manufacturing environment and exposure to factory elements; some work may be in the field at construction sites or active customer facilities. Safety and Travel Powell promotes safe working conditions and requires adherence to safety practices. This position is expected to travel approximately 5-10% of the time with potential short notice or extended trips. Physical Requirements Regularly required to use hands to touch, hold, handle, or feel. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak or hear. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
