The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) Description The Asst Dir of Facilities is essential to the successful functioning of The King Center (TKC), supporting the maintenance of all systems, creating a safe and secure environment, and ensuring the building’s appearance reflects the care we take in presenting TKC’s vision, mission, and institutional brand. This role is responsible for maintaining corrective and preventative maintenance programs for all utility and engineering systems and equipment, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include: Monitoring and maintaining TKC’s physical facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Providing facility maintenance and repair, conducting regular inspections, and making recommendations for improvements. Ensuring compliance with governing agencies (OSHA, ADA, FGI, etc.). Leading and developing the maintenance/facilities team, fostering a positive work environment. Coordinating relocations and resolving life safety and ADA compliance issues. Managing materials, vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets. Maintaining facilities databases and planning for future upgrades and renovations. Developing and updating safety and emergency procedures. Overseeing operational concerns, including parking and security. Performing routine patrols and ensuring property security. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field, with five years of related experience, including supervisory experience. Expertise in facility codes (NFPA, OSHA) and experience managing construction and renovation projects. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license with a clean record. Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, and building codes. Work Environment: Requires physical activity including lifting, climbing, and walking. Exposure to chemicals, weather, and emergency situations. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and on-call availability. Salary:
