Sales And Production Associate Reports To:

Store Manager, Production Store Manager or Warehouse Coordinator (Production area of store)

Job Overview:

The Sales and Production Associate will perform a wide variety of duties in the store and the production area, creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintaining good customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.

Assist, as required, with store operations.

Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.

Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.

Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization.

Ensure that the store is sufficiently stocked and “ragged out” in accordance with the ARC Command Rag Out Calendar.

Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.

Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.

Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.

Be well‑versed in and comply with store policies as communicated.

Support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct and work habits.

Cashier / Sales Floor

Comply with all cash handling and security standards related to cash register operations, daily sales reports, and bank deposits.

Sort, price, stock, and “rag out” showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.

Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.

Maintain merchandise displays as directed.

Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner.

Sort a minimum of 300 store quality garments per hour by department.

Assist with moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.

Assist with hanging merchandise as needed.

Assist running clothing racks as needed.

Tagging and Pricing

Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing on rolling racks from sorting table by department on the correct hanger type, and by category in an 8‑hour period.

Assist with ticketing merchandise as needed.

Assist with running clothing racks as needed.

Price a minimum of 250 garments per hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality, and condition of each piece.

Runner

Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.

Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.

Rag out merchandise in accordance with the territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Assist hanging merchandise as needed.

Other Duties

Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.

Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.

Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.

Rag out merchandise in accordance with the territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags, and accessory donations daily.

Process a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour for shoes/accessories.

Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required.

Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price.

Process a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour for linens.

Sort, clean, and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.

Ticket all electrical merchandise using “sold as is” tickets and assign fair market price.

Maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.

Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy.

Bale ragouts and trash as required.

Perform lawn and garden work as needed.

Donations and Maintenance

Maintain cleanliness of sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas daily.

Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor.

Receive and process all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner.

Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.

Ensure constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.

Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.

Qualifications

Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.

Good customer service skills.

Ability to understand and follow directions.

Physical requirements: sitting 1/3 of time, lifting up to 25 lbs, push/pull using machinery, no standing over 2/3 of time, walking over 2/3 of time, reaching over 2/3 of time, climbing under 1/3 of time, stooping over 2/3 of time.
