Position Overview We are seeking a junior

Voyage Coordinator

to support the safe, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operations of vessels transporting

break bulk, out-of-gauge, and general cargo . This role offers a dynamic environment where you'll

wear many hats , gaining exposure to a variety of departments—including operations, crewing, technical, compliance, finance, and commercial. It’s an excellent opportunity to grow your maritime career while learning the full scope of vessel operations and logistics. While you may not have all the experience below, you would have the aptitude to be able to learn the following through your foundational understanding of breakbulk or vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities Voyage Planning & Execution Plan and monitor vessel voyages, optimizing routing for fuel efficiency, timing, and operational safety. Coordinate ETAs and ETDs with relevant stakeholders.

Cargo Operations Possibly supervise loading and discharge of break bulk and project cargoes. Review and give input on stowage plans, cargo manifests, and load/discharge reports.

Vessel & Crew Management Maintain direct communication with vessel Captains and crew to ensure operational reliability. Support day-to-day vessel needs, including compliance and maintenance scheduling.

Stakeholder Communication Act as the liaison between internal teams, vessel crew, charterers, port agents, terminals, and service providers. Provide real-time updates and proactively resolve operational issues.

Documentation Management Draft and distribute all relevant shipping documents including Bills of Lading, cargo manifests, Letters of Indemnity, and voyage instructions. Maintain accurate voyage files for audit and billing purposes.

Regulatory & Charter Party Compliance Ensure adherence to company policies, international maritime regulations (e.g., USCG, MARPOL, SOLAS), and charter party agreements. Monitor vessel certifications and flag/state-specific compliance requirements. Track and report voyage performance, costs, and profitability metrics. Support timely and accurate billing, invoice approvals, and financial reporting.

Maintenance & Bunkering Coordination Coordinate bunker deliveries, track fuel consumption, and ensure quality standards. Liaise with technical teams to schedule vessel repairs, inspections, and services.

Essential Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree

in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Marine Transportation, or related field (preferred). 2-5 years

of operational experience in break bulk or tanker vessel operations. Strong

communication

and interpersonal skills for coordination across diverse stakeholders. Proven

problem-solving

abilities and adaptability in dynamic maritime environments. High

attention to detail

with accurate recordkeeping and documentation. Solid

analytical skills

to assess performance, interpret data, and inform decisions. Working knowledge of

cargo handling , vessel operations, and technical systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with maritime management systems (e.g., IMOS, ABS NS5, Dataloy) is a plus. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and cultures.
