Senior Parks/Facilities Maintenance Worker (12497, Grade HL3) Re‑advertisement. Previous applicants need not reapply.

The Olney Manor Management Area consists of 44 parks covering 3,841 acres. These parks include 3 recreational parks, local parks, conservation parks, neighborhood parks, 50 athletic fields, 50 tennis courts, and 36 playgrounds. Under the supervision of a park maintenance leader, the selected candidate performs a wide variety of professional park operations within the Olney Manor Management Area. The responsibilities include diverse park operations and programs to provide a secure, safe, and enjoyable park experience for the public.

The salary range listed above represents the earning potential for this position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

All applicants to this job posting will be considered for this and future Senior Parks/Facilities Maintenance Worker openings for six months or until all qualified candidates have been exhausted. At that time, a new posting may be available.

Responsibilities

Operate non‑CDL vehicles and equipment, including riding mowers, tractor attachments, trucks, front‑end loaders, and backhoes.

Perform landscaping duties such as spreading grass seed, lime, fertilizer, and topdressing on fields. Operate tractor attachments for planting, trimming, and pruning trees and shrubs.

Maintain and install park fixtures and furnishings.

Perform athletic field maintenance, operating tractor attachments to rake, drag, and grade fields, and spray pesticides.

Track and record daily work assignments for EAM.

Keep the supervisor updated on assigned work tasks.

Respond to emergencies and inclement weather conditions such as hurricanes, blizzards, and earthquakes.

Provide general custodial duties including cleaning restrooms, setting up meeting rooms, relocating equipment and furniture, mopping, sweeping, stripping, and refinishing floors, as well as general repairs.

Perform reuse and recycle collections.

Work as part of a group or occasionally alone.

Working Conditions

Position requires a combination of field and office work, with exposure to various elements and adverse weather conditions.

Requires constant bending, lifting, and carrying of heavy objects up to 100 pounds and regularly up to 50 pounds.

Additional Information

The selected candidate primarily works outside and will be exposed to all types of weather.

Working on weekends, evenings, and holidays may be required.

The incumbent may be exposed to weather, dirt, waste, odors, caustic chemicals, pesticides, wildlife, and potentially harmful insects.

Pass Commission medical examination.

Minimum age 18 years.

Two (2) years of experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance, or park maintenance, or a semi‑skilled trade such as HVACR, plumbing, painting, masonry, electrical, or carpentry is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Valid driver's license in accordance with state and commission rules and regulations, without restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive commission vehicles.
