Assistant Project Manager, Environmental Scientist or Geologist
to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES In this position, you will:
Serve as a key member of the environmental group with the ability to step in and immediately assist remediation projects in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Split time between completing technical tasks such as field assignments, reporting, and analysis with task management and project management support activities.
Leverage understanding of technical scopes of work for assigned work and their alignment with overall project objectives to deliver quality assignments.
Demonstrate and apply technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
Collaborate closely with project teams, field teams, and health and safety personnel to address client goals and objectives, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, budget, schedule, and safety requirements are met.
Assist the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, project planning, task delegation, and financial management.
Prepare and/or review written communications and technical deliverables.
Engage in internal and external communications with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Coach, mentor, and direct junior staff to ensure high‑quality execution of project tasks, including field activities and preparation of technical reports and deliverables, while facilitating knowledge transfer for team development.
Plan and manage site characterization programs and coordinate field investigations.
Lead project teams with the interpretation, evaluation, and summarization of subsurface data with other multidisciplinary team members to assess the impact and implications to project goals.
Plan all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Minimum Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related environmental field.
6+ years of relevant consulting experience in California with environmental regulations, environmental investigations, site characterization, remediation technologies, operation and maintenance, and construction.
Professional CA registration or certification, as applicable.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient computer literacy skills including use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Master’s degree in Geology or related field.
OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
The salary for this position in
Oakland, CA and Walnut Creek, CA
is $95,000 - $120,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
