Job Description Under the supervision of the Preventive Maintenance Supervisor, performs preventive maintenance on designated machinery and filtration systems. Assists the Preventive Maintenance Supervisor in servicing the University fire extinguishers. Assist in repairing kitchen equipment and elevators. Performs other duties assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent or Preventive Maintenance Supervisor.

Attendance – Reliable and strong, provides notice for absences.
Essential Functions
Performs preventive maintenance on the heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems on campus, including oiling and greasing machinery; cleaning and changing filters; adjusting and replacing bulbs and cleaning strainers and traps.
Assist in stock inventory of all departmental items.
Maintains equipment records for scheduling of maintenance and monitors systems performance with continuous attention to malfunction and repair needs.
Performs minor repairs on mechanical systems, elevators, and kitchen equipment.
Maintains university fire extinguishers and a service log on such equipment.
Assists Preventive Maintenance Supervisor in responding to emergency and critical situations.
Maintains quality and neatness of all University preventive maintenance jobs.
Coordinates work with other trades, maintenance, and assigns personnel, other workmen, department personnel and personnel outside Facilities Management.
Completes all assignments in a professional manner, as rapidly and responsibly as possible while maintaining high quality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Works inside and outside, in dusty, noisy places.
Ability to work in tight high places.
Ability to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
Ability to lift approximately 75 pounds and with assistance lift in excess of 100 pounds.
Ability to work in high places on ladders, scaffolding, and roof tops.
Ability to operate power tools.
Knowledge of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning tools.
Education and Experience
Two (2) years experience in the field of preventive maintenance, general maintenance, or specific trade field with evidence of having consistently performed general maintenance work at an acceptable level, required.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
