Facilities Manager – Archdiocese of San Antonio Full‑time position. FLSA status: Exempt/Salaried. Schedule: Monday – Sunday; flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed. Reports to: Pastor, Business Manager.

Summary Responsible for overseeing and maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment at various church facilities. Requires knowledge of general maintenance work, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting. Expected to provide sound decision‑making within essential job functions and manage staff, including volunteers.

Responsibilities

Care, cleanliness, maintenance, orderliness, and safety of parish facilities and grounds.

Complete all assigned maintenance work and respond to after‑hour emergencies.

Perform repairs or general maintenance including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, glazier, masonry, and painting.

Conduct ongoing assessment of facilities and grounds to identify areas of repair and maintenance.

Ensure all construction or modification projects comply with Archdiocese requirements, city/county codes, and ADA requirements.

Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.

Diagnose mechanical problems and determine correct repairs, using manuals and parts catalogs as needed, and ensure HVAC units function properly.

Assist in transporting furniture and items to and from facilities, including special events set‑ups and tear‑downs.

Maintain security of campus buildings, including doors, windows, alarms, and responding to alarm calls after hours.

Inspect buildings and structures to detect malfunctions and needed repairs.

Perform and direct tasks related to landscape maintenance: mowing, weeding, trimming, tree trimming, debris haul‑off, irrigation system operations.

Prepare, set up, and break down meeting rooms per work order requests (tables, chairs, equipment).

Serve as coordinator for all Parish ministries/committees impacting facilities and grounds.

Maintain inventory of maintenance items and order supplies as necessary.

Propose an annual facilities and maintenance budget and assist with capital improvement projects, insurance claims, and remediation.

Direct and oversee Facility Custodial staff, establish schedules, conduct performance reviews, and address personnel/HR issues.

Act as point of contact for volunteer individuals assigned to facilities projects.

Direct and oversee work of authorized contractors, vendors, and technicians.

Ensure buildings are secure when not in use and activate security systems at closing.

Assist Pastor/Business Manager with maintenance and grounds issues at the parish Rectory as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform duties of Parish Safety Coordinator.

Maintain a formal record of all inspections, tests, repairs, and updates.

Maintain files of municipal and state safety/security guidelines.

Ensure ADA equipment (AED, first aid kits, etc.) is up to code and operational.

Complete regular inspections and operational performance of all fire and security alarms and equipment (fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, etc.) and schedule maintenance, repairs, and updates.

Serve as first point of contact for security and fire alarms.

Qualifications and Requirements

High school degree, GED, or equivalent.

Two (2) years proven experience in building/facilities maintenance; management and direction of subordinate staff is a plus.

Support and adhere to the religious standards, policies, and procedures of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive matters.

Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with parish staff and coordinate with the parish community.

Strong organizational skills and ability to meet parish goals and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with office staff, ministry leaders, parishioners, and contractors/vendors.

Ability to work in a team and foster a positive work environment.

Punctuality and reliability to ensure efficient, safe, thorough, and timely operations of the custodial/maintenance program.

Work weekends, holidays, and early mornings or evenings as required; the church operates seven days a week except scheduled holidays.

Hiree will serve a 90‑day evaluation and probationary period.

Meet all Archdiocesan employment requirements.

Provide proof of valid driver’s license and insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous buildings maintenance manager experience.

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands / Work Environment Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must lift or move up to 50 pounds. Moderate noise level. Must be familiar with personal protective equipment and its proper usage.
