Overview
Energy Project Manager role at NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP). The Energy Office advances energy savings and GHG emissions reductions, tracks performance, conducts program assessments, research, emergency planning, and internal auditing to support DEP’s energy goals. The Energy Project Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Energy Projects to ensure priority projects advance on schedule, deliver the full project scope, and support information gathering from operational bureaus and Energy Office databases to justify and advance energy projects. They will support analysis to determine potential energy savings and carbon reductions, comment on business cases, and participate in design meetings to ensure energy-saving measures are included. The role is responsible for ensuring projects realize projected savings and for monitoring progress from initiation through construction completion. Experience designing and implementing Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans and tracking progress across a portfolio of projects is preferred. The Energy Project Manager will attend internal progress meetings and prepare documentation as needed to support project delivery. Responsibilities
Gather information from operational bureaus and Energy Office databases to justify and advance energy projects. Support analysis to determine the scope of potential energy savings and GHG emission reductions. Comment on business cases and participate in design meetings to push for inclusion of energy-saving measures. Monitor project progress from initiation to construction completion and ensure realization of projected savings. Design and implement Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans and track progress across a portfolio of projects. Attend internal progress meetings and prepare required documentation to support project delivery. Minimum Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in architecture or architectural technology; biology; building science; chemistry; construction management; energy management; engineering, engineering technology; environmental science; facilities management; physics; or a related field; or Completion of an apprentice program (minimum 2 years) in a construction trade with emphasis on energy efficiency for buildings and two years of experience in energy generation or conservation work; or Four years of satisfactory, full-time experience in energy generation or conservation work; or Education/experience equivalent to the above, with credit for undergraduate credits and/or a master’s degree as specified. Preferred Skills
Strong knowledge of Excel with experience in data analysis and reporting; knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications and/or other data systems is desirable. Knowledge of NYC/NY State energy policy is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong business process analysis skills; ability to understand and improve existing processes. Strong time management, prioritization, and interpersonal skills. Additional Information
